The Division I Administration Cabinet will conduct exit surveys with people who rotate off their council or cabinet positions to help assess the effectiveness of the new governance structure.

The survey for exiting members is similar to a recent Division II effort that sought feedback about the nomination process and preparation to serve. The Division I effort will assist the cabinet, which is responsible for appointing new members to many of the committees in Division I, as new people are brought into the structure.

Another key component of the cabinet's assessment will be reaction from the Board of Directors. One of the primary reasons the governance structure was reorganized was to provide better input and advice to the Board through a more streamlined structure in which individual bodies were better able to focus their time.

One of the goals of the new structure was improving communication between various governance bodies and between the cabinets and councils and the Board. The Communication and Coordination Committee, composed of the chairs of the councils and cabinets, fills that function by coordinating the consideration of issues and legislative concepts between their respective groups as the Division I agenda moves up in the structure to the Board.

The cabinet will continue to work toward its goal of a multi-dimensional tool to assess the overall effectiveness of the structure at its next meeting in June.
