Jennifer Strawley will return to the national office next month to be director of academic and membership affairs. Strawley has been associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Columbia since 2007.
In her new role, Strawley will serve as liaison to the Division I Academic Cabinet and the Committee on Academic Performance. Her CAP duties will include serving as the lead staffer for CAP penalty appeals to the subcommittee of the Board of Directors.
She will also oversee partnerships with academic groups such as the Faculty Athletics Representatives Association (FARA), the Division I-A FARA, the Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics, the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics and the National Academic Advising Association.
Strawley will be responsible for academic policy and research and oversee the progress-toward-degree waiver process.
Before her appointment at Columbia, She served as director of student-athlete reinstatement with the NCAA. She holds a degree from Pennsylvania. She begins her new duties July 26.
