Online registration for the NCAA Women's Leadership Symposium Southwest will open on Wednesday.
The event, which will be held in conjunction with the NCAA Convention, will take place January 11-12 in San Antonio. The registration fee is $75 ($25 for students). Attendees will need to register for the Convention separately but will be the NCAA's guests at the Convention keynote luncheon.
The NCAA Women's Leadership Symposium programming is designed as an educational experience for professional women new to intercollegiate athletics administration and coaching, as well as students aspiring to a career in college athletics.
The mission of the program is to further the participants' skills, expand their professional network and promote the recruitment and retention of women in athletics administration and coaching.
Attendees will take an active role in exploring leadership skills such as communication, values clarification, philosophy development and conflict resolution.
Management strategies in finance, organization, personnel and legal issues will also be on the agenda. Attendees will also take part in programming to enhance career advancement skills that include interviewing, resume and cover letter critiquing and networking skills.
There will be two other opportunities to participate in a NCAA Women's Leadership Symposium in 2011. The WLS Midwest is May 5-6 in Indianapolis and the WLS East will be May 27-28 in Long Island, New York, in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship.
