Experts from amateur, Olympic and professional sports will discuss elements of a successful anti-doping program this spring during the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory's Annual Spring Conference on Doping in Sports.
Collegiate directors of athletics, athletic trainers and drug-testing administrators are among those being urged to attend the April 25-26 conference titled "Keeping Sports Clean: Keys to a Successful Anti-Doping Program."
The conference will be at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Featured speakers are former Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies player and radio analyst and writer Doug Glanville, who will present the conference's Monday-morning keynote address, and NCAA General Counsel Elsa Cole, who will speak at that day's luncheon.
The conference, presented by the Salt Lake City-based and World Anti-Doping Agency-accredited Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory, also will feature various panel discussions involving anti-doping experts from different levels of sport and from such organizations as the National Center for Drug Free Sport and U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Panel discussion topics include developing an effective anti-doping program, trends in banned substances, overcoming practical problems and the future of anti-doping programs.
The registration fee is $120 per person if payment is submitted by March 1 or $150 thereafter. A Sunday-evening welcoming reception also is scheduled.
Participants may register at the SMRTL Web site or by calling 801/994-9454.
