DII announces 2011 basketball TV schedule

Division II and CBS College Sports will team to televise a total of 10 men’s and women’s 2010 Division II basketball Games of the Week beginning Saturday, Jan. 8.

The contests, divided equally among men’s and women’s games, will feature teams from 10 Division II conferences. This 2011 television season will include nine campuses and 19 institutions that have not previously been featured on the Division II package, which began in 2006.

“This schedule completes our five-year agreement in which we have featured more than 100 different schools and broadcast national television games from more than 50 Division II communities,” said Division II Vice President Mike Racy.

In addition to appearing on CBS College Sports, the games also will be available through NCAA Productions syndication affiliates (such as regional sports networks and local TV stations) and will be videostreamed concurrently on NCAA.com.

The Game of the Week format will highlight one game each week, except for doubleheaders Jan. 22 and 29.

CBS College Sports also will carry the semifinal games of the Division II Men’s Basketball Championship, which will be played March 24 in Springfield, Mass. CBS will carry the championship game March 26.

Games are selected by the Division II media advisory group, which includes presidents, athletics directors and conference commissioners.
