Kristi Andreassen in action.
The College Sports Information Directors of America selected Kristi Andreassen of Northern Arizona and Tara Carter of Otterbein to lead the 2010 Academic All-America women’s soccer teams.
Andreassen, a defender, represents the university division. She led Northern Arizona to a 12-4-3 record and a second-place finish in the Big Sky Conference tournament. She started all 19 games this season, leading the Lumberjacks with six goals and three assists. She was also named the Big Sky’s most valuable player this season. An exercise science major, Andreassen has a 4.0 grade-point average and logged more than 110 hours of volunteer work in 2009.
Carter, a goalkeeper, represents the college division. The 20-0-1 Otterbein team will count on Carter’s defense during the Division III NCAA tournament. She has allowed only three goals in 21 matches in 2010, helping the Cardinals outscore opponents, 47-3. An art major with a 4.0 GPA, Carter leads Division III with 18 shutouts in 2010. She is a member of several honor societies and recently completed a sculpture honoring recent Otterbein President C. Brent DeVore.
