Georgia State named Cheryl Levick as the university’s next director of athletics.

She will assume her duties March 30. Levick currently serves as chief of staff/executive senior athletics director at Maryland. During her time there, Levick has overseen daily management of 27 varsity teams, a 180-member staff and an annual budget of $51 million. She also was instrumental in a fund-raising campaign to sell multi-year leases on the university’s athletics arena suites. She previously has been director of athletics at St. Louis and Santa Clara.

Other transactions

Director of athletics – Dartmouth hired Robert Ceplikas as acting director of athletics and recreation.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Wilmington (Delaware) announced the resignation of Kevin Welch as men’s basketball coach, effective immediately.

Football assistants – Vanderbilt promoted defensive coordinator Bruce Fowler to assistant head coach/defense and Jamie Bryant to defensive coordinator, and named defensive line coach Rick Logo and running backs coach Des Kitchings co-special teams coordinators.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants -- Arkansas named Christine Liberto and Tim Nowak women's assistant soccer coaches.

Men’s and women’s tennis -- Scott Riggle will take over the reins of the men's tennis team at De Pauw starting with the 2009-10 season. He will remain as the women’s head coach as well.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Arkansas State announced the resignation of women's volleyball coach Craig Cummings.
