Kendra Hasell hired as assistant women’s basketball coach at Texas Woman’s University. The former Hardin-Simmons basketball all-American most recently served as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at Charleston Southern. Hasell, who worked with TWU head coach Beth Jillson while serving as a graduate assistant coach at Oklahoma State, was the 2003 NCAA Woman of the Year honoree in Texas.

President – Ricardo Maestas chosen as president at Sul Ross State. He has been vice president for student relations and dean of students at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Gary Williams received a one-year contract extension through June 2013 at Maryland.

Golf  – Pete Samborsky named head men’s coach at Wright State, where he played during the mid-1990s.

Gymnastics – Teresa Phipps hired as assistant women’s coach at Texas Woman’s University. The former Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Ball State gymnast assisted last season at Ball State.

Deaths

Chris Quon, a recently graduated men’s soccer and lacrosse student-athlete at Colorado College, died September 19.
