Gene Iba, head men’s basketball coach at Pittsburg State since 1995, announced his retirement, effective at the end of the upcoming season. Iba, the nephew of Basketball Hall of Fame member and longtime Oklahoma State coach Henry Iba, will enter the season with 478 career victories through 29 years as a head coach that also includes stints at Houston Baptist and Baylor – both of which he led to an appearance in the Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. Through 14 seasons at Pittsburg State, he has led the Gorillas to five Division II Men’s Basketball Championship appearances, most recently in 2007.

Other transactions

President Gregory H. Williams selected at Cincinnati, effective November 1. He currently is president at CCNY.

Coaches

Baseball Patrick Horvath and Ray Scipione joined the staff as assistants at Rider. Both previously were head high school coaches in Florida.

LacrosseJake Coon named head men’s coach at Rochester Institute of Technology after five years as an assistant at Massachusetts. He was a member of Nazareth’s 1997 Division III championship team.

TennisDoug Neagle appointed head women’s coach at Towson. He previously was associate head men’s and women’s coach at UMBC and also is a former head coach at Pomona-Pitzer and assistant at Navy.

Track and fieldSkip Stolley hired as head men’s and women’s coach at North Park. The former Indiana State coach has been active in USA Track and Field in southern California since 2004 … Aaron Carley appointed assistant men’s and women’s coach at Chicago. The former Division III triple jump all-American at Wisconsin-Stevens Point previously was a graduate assistant coach at Wisconsin-La Crosse.
