Richmond and head football coach Mike London agreed on a contract extension through the 2014 season. The agreement is a two-year extension of London’s original five-year contract. London guided his alma mater to the 2008 Division I national championship in his first season in charge of the program.

Other transactions

Associate directors of athleticsBrian Tracy was promoted to associate athletics director for external affairs at Elon. Tracy joined the athletics department in 2005 as an assistant director of development for athletics and was elevated to his most recent position as director of the Phoenix Club in 2007.

Baseball – Maryland hired Vanderbilt assistant Erik Bakich as the sixth head coach in the 116-year history of the Terrapin baseball program. Bakich spent the last seven seasons with the Commodores. He takes over for Terry Rupp, who resigned May 29 after nine seasons … Augusta State assistant Chris Cooper was promoted to head coach at his alma mater, succeeding longtime head coach Stanley “Skip” Fite, who resigned after 25 seasons to assume the same position at West Georgia. He has most recently has been an assistant coach and the athletics department strength and conditioning coordinator.  

Baseball assistantDennis Healy was selected as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest. For the past four seasons, he has been head coach at Marist.

Men’s basketball – Bethany (West Virginia) chose Andrew Sachs, an assistant at Holy Cross, as the program’s new head coach. Sachs has been part of the Crusader coaching staff for the last five years and formerly was the associate head coach at Indiana (Pennsylvania) and top assistant at Salisbury State.

Men’s basketball assistant – Philadelphia U. added Dick DeLaney and Dave Caporaletti as assistant coaches.

Women’s basketballCarl Ramsey was hired as head coach at Ozarks (Arkansas). The longtime Lamar (Arkansas) High School girls’ basketball coach posted a 660-227 in 29 seasons, leading the school to two state titles in eight appearances.

Women’s basketball assistant – Philadelphia U. named Jean-Marie Torpey as an assistant coach.

Men’s and women’s cross countryBob Koppenol was selected as head men’s and women’s cross country coach at Drew. He succeeds Mark Leibowitz, who resigned to pursue other professional opportunities.

Field hockeyErin Livingston was appointed as head coach at Arcadia. Livingston served as a graduate assistant at Kean from 2006-09.

Men’s and women’s golfJoseph Martin was selected as head coach at Philadelphia U.

Softball – Evansville hired Mark Redburn as head coach. For the past three seasons, Redburn has been an assistant at Missouri, helping the Tigers compile a 137-53 mark and advance to the 2009 Women’s College World Series during that time span. He replaces Gwen Lewis, who retired in May after 18 years as head coach.

Community relationsSarah Thomas was elevated to director of community relations and special events for athletics at Elon. She most recently served as the assistant director of the Phoenix Club.

Compliance – Philadelphia U. chose Stephanie Spada as NCAA compliance coordinator.

Marketing/promotionsMichael Jacobs was promoted to director of marketing and ticket operations for athletics at Elon. Jacobs joined the Elon staff in 2008 as the director of ticket operations.

Media relations – Elon hired Erica Madden Roberson as director of media relations. Roberson, who comes to Elon from The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, where she has been director of stewardship for the last year, formerly as an assistant sports information director at Davidson and Furman.

TechnologyMegan Donald was elevated to director of Web site operations at Elon. For the past two years, Donald has been assistant director of marketing for Web site operations.
