St. Benedict named Steve Kimble as head soccer coach and assistant athletics director to succeed Kate McNeil, who resigned in May for family reasons. Kimble has spent the last seven years as the head soccer coach at Brainerd (Minnesota) High School where he compiled an overall record of 99-23-8 and guided the school to two state tournament appearances and five Central Lakes Conference titles.

Other transactions

 Softball assistant – Wingate appointed Natalie Layden as assistant softball coach, effective July 1. For the past year, she has been an assistant at Elon. She formerly was a graduate assistant coach at Muskingum for two years.

Director of athletics – Delaware Director of Athletics Edgar N. Johnson retired June 30.  Johnson’s 25-year tenure as athletics director is the longest in school history.

Women’s basketball assistants – Appalachian State added Heather Kearney, Andrea Gross and Kiesha Mack as assistant coaches. Kearney joins the Mountaineers after one year as head coach at California (Pennsylvania) and eight years as an assistant with the program. Gross was an assistant coach at Colgate for two seasons, while Mack spent the past season as an assistant coach at East Stroudsburg.

Men’s and women’s golfJeff Parks was elevated to head coach at Louisiana Tech. Parks has been an assistant coach with the program since 2004 and has been head golf pro at Squire Creek Golf Course. He succeeds Jean Hall, who announced his retirement in May after five years at the helm.

Men’s and women’s track and fieldDave Self was promoted to head coach at Sam Houston State after serving as an assistant coach with the program for the past five years.
