Western Illinois baseball coach Stan Hyman died September 5 after a month-long battle with leukemia. Hyman coached the Leathernecks for the past eight seasons and had collected his 350th career victory May 16. A former sportswriter and music columnist, Hyman also was a press agent for several professional athletes and musicians in the 1980s. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – Southern Connecticut State named Paul Fleck to its women’s staff. Fleck was a student-athlete and assistant coach at nearby Quinnipiac.

Men’s and women’s track and field assistants – New York U. added Jon Phillips, Andrew Lackman and Rebecca Roberts. Phillips will also assist with cross country.
