Felician named David DeFerrari men’s basketball coach and recreation/game operations coordinator. DeFerrari spent the last seven seasons as an assistant at Caldwell, where he also managed the fitness center. He replaces Del Harrison.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Texas-Pan American hired Chris King. King spent the last seven years at Alabama, most of that time in a compliance role … West Georgia selected Daryl Dickey. Dickey had been serving in the role on an interim basis since January. He will continue as football coach … Alabama State named Sterling Steward its interim athletics director and associate athletics director for compliance. Steward was most recently the assistant athletics director for administration and compliance at Kentucky State … Weber State’s Jerry Graybeal resigned to spend more time with his family. He will move to an administrative position in development for the Wildcats.

Associate athletics director – Cabrini promoted Jeff Falardeau. For the past five years, Falardeau has overseen facility management, game-day operations, compliance, scheduling and travel for the Cavaliers. He also oversees the sports information and athletic training staffs.

Coaches

Baseball – Mercy hired Bob Greiner to replace Bill Sullivan, who was promoted to associate athletics director for internal operations. Greiner has coaching experience at Manhattanville and Concordia.

Football – Northern Illinois extended Jerry Kill’s contract through the 2015 season. Kill is in his second season with the Huskies. Last year, he led the team to an Independence Bowl berth. He previously coached at Southern Illinois.

Men’s and women’s golf – Ohio Wesleyan named alumnus Ian Miller to replace Jon Whithaus, who left for an assistantship at Duke. Miller has been a PGA member since 1994.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse – Brockport hired Linda Michele for its women’s program. She spent the last 13 years coaching at the high school level.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Jason Spain will coach Minot State’s first women’s soccer team when it begins play in 2010. He has coached at the collegiate level for 13 years.

Wrestling – Minot State announced Robin Ersland will coach the school’s new wrestling program when it begins competition in 2010. He has coached at Central Missouri for the past 10 years.

Conferences – The Commonwealth, Freedom and Middle Atlantic Conferences announced their supervisors of officials for 2009-10. They are: Bob Gallagher, baseball; Lois Pinto, field hockey; Milt Halstead, football; Rich Kieman, men’s and women’s soccer; Mark Raynes, men’s and women’s tennis; Frank Majikes, men’s basketball; Noel Turner, men’s lacrosse; Denny Mader, softball; Larry Fetterhoff, volleyball; and Jim Hollister, women’s basketball.

Staff

Equipment assistant – Albany named Ryan Boisvert assistant equipment manager. Boisvert had been a graduate assistant for equipment and operations for the Danes.
