Lynchburg’s Allie Weir closed out her collegiate career with a share of another career field hockey record, though the Hornets’ opponent in the second round of the Division III Field Hockey Championship held Weir without a point in her final game Saturday.

Weir entered the game at Ursinus with a chance to gain sole possession of the Division III career points mark (total goals and assists) after tying Messiah’s Danae Chambers for the record in first-round action last week. But the Bears, who also eliminated Lynchburg from last year’s tournament, shut out Weir and her team, 4-0.

Still, Weir finished not only with a piece of the record with 297 points, but also extended the Division III record for career goals she broke October 3 to a final tally of 130.

She also joins Chambers, who played from 2001 to 2004 at Messiah, tied for fifth place across all NCAA divisions in career points, just one point behind Jamie Vanartsdalen of Division II member Bloomsburg.

In Saturday’s game, Weir had five shots, but Ursinus held Lynchburg to 16 shots for the game, and only one shot in the first half.
