Volleyball teams earn record ninth straight academic honorWomen’s volleyball squads at Central College (Iowa) and Wisconsin-La Crosse share the distinction of having the longest streak of Division III team academic awards in the sport, following the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s recent announcement of those honors.
The two schools each collected the honor for the ninth straight year, surpassing the mark of eight straight AVCA team academic awards collected by Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1995 to 2002.
Kalamazoo continues to lead Division III programs in overall team academic awards with 11.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors teams that maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.1 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
