Softball returns after 10 years at PrincipiaEvery member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Association will sponsor softball next year as the result of a decision by Principia to reinstate the sport.
The school dropped the sport after the 1999 season, after which the SLIAC discontinued its postseason tournament. The league resurrected the tournament in 2005.
“As a conference, we are excited Principia has decided to reinstitute its intercollegiate softball team,” said Commissioner William J. Wolper. “It is a tremendous opportunity for all.
“Until this addition, softball was the only team sport that our full membership did not sponsor, and now our softball student-athletes are able to share the experiences of competing against Principia College that the majority of our student-athletes have always enjoyed.”
