The Methodist Monarchs fired a tournament-low 310 in rounds two and three to run away with their 10th straight Division III Women’s Golf Championships team title by 25 strokes over second-place Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

The Monarchs also featured tournament medalist Sarah Martin, a junior who became the second Methodist golfer to win consecutive titles, joining Charlotte Williams, who did it in 2005 and 2006.

Methodist is the only team to win the Division III championship since its beginning in 2000. The Monarchs also won the tournament three times when it was a combined Divisions II and III event.

The Monarchs held a 19-stroke lead going into the fourth round and finished at 1,257 (321-310-310-316) for the win. Gustavus Adolphus was third, followed by Southwestern (Texas).

Martin posted a 294 (73-71-73-77) to win by three shots over Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Jessica Urban at 297 (75-74-75-73). Southwestern’s Marissa Mauldin was third at 311 (81-72-79-79).

Martin’s second-round 71 was a tournament low.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire held the lead after round one at 312 while Methodist posted a first-round 321, but the Monarchs quickly gained control with their back-to-back 310s.
