Doug Mello of Hendrix became the 10th active Division III men’s soccer coach and 27th active coach in all divisions to reach the 400-win milestone with the Warriors’ victory Sunday over Colorado College.

Mello, who also compiled 292 coaching victories in women’s soccer before moving last year from Luther to Hendrix, is entering his fourth decade as a men’s coach. He collected 240 of his men’s soccer victories and 219 wins in women’s soccer during an 18-year stint at Luther, and also has coached at Aquinas, Siena Heights and College of the Southwest.

He ranks 12th in men’s soccer victories among all active and retired Division III coaches. Mello also holds the Division III record for consecutive conference wins, with 42 at Luther from 1996 to 2000.
