Macalester's Schleuder collects 700th victoryMacalester’s Stephanie Schleuder became the 23rd coach in any NCAA division to reach the 700-wins milestone in women’s volleyball on September 18.
Schleuder, the third active Division III coach to reach 700 wins, boosted her record to 702-454 with two more victories during the weekend.
She is in her 34th season as a head coach. She served 19 of those years in positions at Alabama (1974-81) and Minnesota (1982-94).
Schleuder, who has been at Macalester since 1998, trails Juniata’s Larry Bock, who is seven victories away from becoming the first NCAA coach with 1,200 wins, and Rich Luenemann of Washington U. in St. Louis (947 wins) in the active Division III coaching ranks.
Earlier this decade, Schleuder became the only non-Division I coach to serve a term as president of the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
