Amy Huchthausen, a member of the NCAA Academic and Membership Affairs staff since 2006, has been named Division III governance liaison.

The former Wisconsin-La Crosse softball student-athlete succeeds Jay Jones, who began duties this week as commissioner of the Sunshine State Conference in Division II.

The governance liaison oversees AMA staff assigned to support Division III, and serves as primary liaison to the Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee. Huchthausen also will be a liaison to the Division III Presidents and Management Councils.

She has been a director of academic and membership affairs since 2007, overseeing the Division I athletics certification program among other duties.

As a student-athlete, Huchthausen was a member of the Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and represented SAAC on the Division III Management Council and Division III Amateurism Task Force.

She came to the NCAA in March 2006 after an 18-month stint with the America East Conference, where she worked in compliance and governance.

Before that, Huchthausen spent two years as assistant director of compliance and governance with the Atlantic Coast Conference. She also worked for two years as director of compliance at the Missouri Valley Conference. She joined the Missouri Valley after serving as a compliance assistant at the Big East Conference during the 1999-00 year.

She served on the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet and the Division I Legislative Review and Interpretations Committee. Huchthausen also was a participant in the 2003-04 Sports Management Institute and the 2001 NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement.

She has a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science at Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she was a two-time softball captain and all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection.
