Following is a summary of Division III news published April 27-May 1.

•         An “identity initiative” is underway to better define Division III’s distinctive approach to intercollegiate athletics and equip the division to tell its story more effectively.

•         A pilot program approved this week by the Division III Presidents Council will measure academic performance by comparing graduation rates of participating institutions’ student-athletes with the broader student body.

•         The Presidents Council also discussed various ways to enhance presidential leadership in the division.

•         Williams and Amherst, the schools that played the first college baseball game 150 years ago, will celebrate the anniversary during its game Sunday in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
