Division III RewindFollowing is a summary of Division III news published February 23-27.
• The Division III Championships Committee plans a combination of procedural and educational steps to improve sports committees’ administration – and the membership’s understanding – of the championships selection process.
• St. Norbert, which claimed last year’s Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship title, will add women’s ice hockey as a varsity sport in 2010-11.
• Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes and staff advisors for the schools’ student-athlete advisory committees gathered last weekend at the NCAA headquarters for a league workshop funded through the Division III strategic initiatives program.
• St. Thomas (Minnesota) trustees approved construction beginning in May of a $52 million athletics complex and recreation center, following a brief delay prompted by economic conditions.
• Nominations are being sought for a chancellor or president to serve on the Division III Management Council.
• The NCAA academic and membership affairs staff has created two quick-reference guides to Division III recruiting rules, which now are available online.
