Following is a summary of Division III news published January 19-23.

•         The Division III Commissioners Association presented its Meritorious Service Award to a faculty athletics representative for the first time in the award’s nine-year history. Michael Miranda of Plattsburgh State, who served as chair of the Division III Management Council from 2005 to 2007, was honored during the NCAA Convention.

•         Susquehanna accepted an invitation to join the Centennial Conference as an associate member in the sports of football and women’s golf, beginning in 2010. The move will give the league 10 football-playing members beginning with that fall’s season, while the golf team, which currently competes as an independent, will become eligible for the league title in spring 2010.
