Following is a summary of Division III news from the week of August 17-21.

• The Division III Championships Committee has approved a two-year waiver request from the Division III Women’s Golf Committee that relaxes automatic-qualification requirements conferences need to meet in that sport. It also selected sites of 2010 championships in men’s and women’s swimming and diving and women’s tennis.
• Ten Division III student-athletes are among the top 30 honorees for the 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
• Jay Jones, NCAA director of academic and membership affairs and Division III governance liaison, has been selected as commissioner of the Sunshine State Conference in Division II.
• Deb Vercauteren is stepping down as head women’s track and field coach at Wisconsin-Oshkosh after leading teams to 14 Division III indoor and outdoor team titles.
