The following is a summary of Division III news from the week of June 8-12.

• The game ball from Chicago’s 1909 victory over Indiana was aboard the space shuttle Atlantis when it went to the Hubble telescope last summer. NASA astronaut John Grunsfeld is a Chicago alumnus, as is Edwin Hubble, the namesake of the telescope. Hubble played in the 1909 victory over Indiana.
• The Capital Athletic Conference will add Frostburg State as a full member in 2010-11. Gallaudet is leaving the league in 2010. Frostburg Stat will compete in eight of the nine sports sponsored by the CAC.
• Wisconsin-La Crosse announced it would eliminate baseball and men’s tennis, but the sports earned a temporary reprieve when alumni, parents and community members said they would try to raise funding for the sports for the next five years.
• The Division III Baseball Committee is seeking a nominee to replace John Lonardo, Old Westbury State, who resigned from the committee.
