The Division III governance staff has begun planning for a transfer of duties from Jay Jones, NCAA director of academic and membership affairs and the division’s governance liaison, following Jones’ selection as commissioner of the Sunshine State Conference.

Jones, who will assume leadership of the Division II conference September 14, will continue serving on the NCAA staff through September 10.

Other NCAA staff members are expected to begin assuming duties from Jones this week.

Jones has been a member of the NCAA national office staff since 2003 and has served as Division III governance liaison since late 2006.
