Two men’s basketball coaches, including a current member of the Division III Management Council, recorded their 500th coaching victories over the weekend.

Bob Gaillard collected his 500th win Friday night in Lewis and Clark’s road victory over George Fox in Northwest Conference action, then Lee McKinney led Fontbonne – where the Management Council member also serves as athletics director – to victory Saturday afternoon over St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Maryville (Missouri).

Galliard began his coaching career at San Francisco, leading the Dons to 165 wins through eight seasons, then left coaching for 12 years before taking the reins at Lewis and Clark in 1989.

Since then, he has led the Pioneers to five league titles in 19 seasons and three appearances in the Division III Men’s Basketball Championship.

McKinney is in his 22nd season at Fontbonne and 32nd collegiate season overall, including a decade at Missouri Baptist, where he won 188 games.

He started the program at Fontbonne and has led teams to three Division III championship appearances, including the last two seasons. His teams also have won two SLIAC regular-season titles and four league postseason-tournament crowns.

McKinney has served on the Management Council since 2007 and also is a member of the Division III Financial Aid Committee.
