Division II athletics administrators can brush up on their game-environment skills by attending a seminar March 6-7 in Orlando, Florida, featuring ideas from guest-services professionals who are experts in sports venues.

The GameDay Institute, sponsored by GameDay Consulting, is a beneficial and cost-effective way for institutions to learn about the positive and significant impact that well-trained front-line employees can have on game environment. 

Speakers include Bill Sutton from the University of Central Florida; Bill Squires from the NFL’s New York Giants, New York Jets and the New Meadowlands Stadium Company; and Brian Crow of GameDay Consulting – the faculty athletics representative at Slippery Rock and the former president of the North American Society for Sport Management.

“Attendees receive training and materials that event managers/coordinators can share with their front-line employees upon returning to campus, and the opportunity to network with colleagues from other universities, professional sport teams and venues nationwide to share best practices,” Crow said. “Participants will realize a 75 percent cost savings over bringing consultants to campus to conduct training.”

Sessions include the “revenue generating” importance of guest services, and talent management and training for supervisors. Registration is $300 for the first person from an institution or organization and $250 for subsequent members of the same institution or organization.
