Lander names new facility for AD Jeff MayLander is naming its new recreation, wellness and sports complex for longtime athletics administrator Jeff May.
May, athletics director at Lander since 1997, also was an all-America basketball player at the school.
May’s career at Lander began in 1976 when he was hired to be director of student activities and serve as an admissions counselor. Over the next 33 years, he held several other positions, including dean of students, assistant to the president, vice president for university advancement and executive director of The Lander Foundation. He also was assistant men’s basketball coach for eight years.
Lander broke ground in September on the 25-acre facility that will be home to the school’s soccer, baseball and softball stadiums. It also includes 12 tennis courts with a pavilion, intramural and practice fields, a walking and jogging track and a field house. The facility is expected to be ready for use by next fall.
