Kutztown coach garners 600th winKutztown softball coach Judy Lawes picked up her 600th career coaching win with the Golden Bears March 1, earning two victories at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.
The 600th win for the 22-year coach was even more special as Kutztown pitcher Monica Glomb threw a complete-game no-hitter, striking out 11 over six innings in a 14-0 rout of Lake Erie.
Her 599th win came earlier in the day with a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Sciences.
Lawes has posted a winning record in each of her 21 seasons at Kutztown. She has led the Golden Bears to a record of 600-366-1, which ranks among the top 25 active Division II coaches. She recorded her 500th victory in a 7-6 win over Millersville in 2006. The four-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference coach of the year is Kutztown’s winningest coach in any sport.
