Division II RewindFollowing is a summary of Division II news from the week of January 19-23.
Division II activated its purchasing Web site and has primed the pump with a $1,000 credit for each member institution and conference. The site was a hit with schools the first time it was launched in 2007, so Division II is revisiting the opportunity for institutions to purchase items that can be co-branded to promote the school and the division. Several items on the site are free of charge as well.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s executive council amended league legislation requiring senior woman administrators at GLIAC member schools to be titled in an administrative capacity that involves them in the athletics department decision-making process (for example, as assistant or associate athletics director). The amendment, which still must be finalized by the league’s presidents council, says that schools with SWAs not thusly titled have three years to advance those women to such an administrative level.
The Lone Star Conference announced the addition of Incarnate Word as the league’s 16th member, effective in 2010.
