Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of November 9-13.

• The Division II Membership Committee has approved tightened standards for prospective member institutions, as well as additional evaluation criteria for future classes that may include more applicants than there are slots available.
• The Membership Committee also is asking the Management Council to sponsor two legislative proposals for the 2011 Convention, including one that would allow the committee to audit sport-sponsorship and financial aid data from Institutional Self-Study Guide reports.
• Another Membership Committee discussion at the group’s meeting this week involved expediting reclassification for Division I members that wish to reclassify to Division II.
