Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of September 14-18.

• The Division II Championships Committee took steps to support the Life in the Balance initiative this week when it approved bracket and format reductions in tennis, baseball and golf.
• The Championships Committee also approved format recommendations for the eight regionals in the 2010 Division II Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.
• Winston-Salem State has announced it intends to end its reclassification to Division I and seek a return to Division II.
• The University of Indianapolis came up with a creative fund-raiser for its most recent home football game.
