Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of August 10-14.
- Division II has announced an eight-game regular-season men’s and women’s basketball package with CBS College Sports. The live broadcasts include four men’s and four women’s games, the first of which is January 9 when Fort Valley State’s women’s team visits Albany State in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference clash.
- Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Commissioner Butch Raymond has been elected vice chair of the Division II Management Council. Raymond succeeds Mars Hill Athletics Director Dave Riggins and will begin his one-year term in that role September 1.
- Advisory groups from the eight regions hosting regional competitions for the 2009 Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship have recommended staying with a format in which one site hosts seven teams.
- Division II institutions will be able to access the Web-based Academic Tracking System beginning today to fulfill data-entry requirements for the 2009 cycle. The ATS is the Web application through which institutions that sponsor Division II sports can enter Academic Performance Census data.
- The Division II Management and Presidents Councils reviewed and approved appointments to Division II sport committees at their recent meetings.
