Division II rewindFollowing is a summary of Division II news for the week of July 13-17.
The Division II Management Council and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meet this weekend in Denver to discuss the “Life in the Balance” initiative that has proposed contest reductions in eight sports. The Council/SAAC summit also features roundtable sessions on game environment and life skills, among other topics.
After accepting seven applications to enter the membership process, the Division II Membership Committee is refining expectations it wants prospective schools to meet in the future.
The Division II Championships Committee has approved a system in which regional “format advisory groups” suggest how they want to conduct NCAA regional competition in men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball.
The Division II Championships Committee also is asking the Management Council to adopt noncontroversial legislation that would make the Council vice chair an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Championships Committee rather than its chair (as has been the tradition).
