Division II is making an effort to ensure that Convention voters understand the Life in the Balance package by providing educational materials that include charts explaining how the four proposals impact calendars in the affected sports.

Because the proposals to streamline seasons and cut contests in nine sports would have a significant effect on scheduling, Division II has provided members with year-by-year charts on start and end dates for fall sports through 2020.

The charts pertain only to fall sports since reporting dates and championship dates do not change under the proposals for winter and spring sports.

The Life in the Balance package affects fall sports with a proposed later reporting date for all fall sports and a shorter season (by one week) in field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball. The charts include the proposed contests or dates of competition in the affected sports, as well as the first permissible date of competition and the championship dates.

The charts are appendices in the executive summary about the Life in the Balance project that was posted online last week in conjunction with the release of the Second Publication of Proposed Legislation.
