Minnesota, Mercyhurst to host Women’s Frozen FourThe National Collegiate Women’s Ice Hockey Committee selected Minneapolis to host the 2010 Women’s Frozen Four and Erie, Pennsylvania, to host the 2011 event.
“The committee is pleased to announce our decision to award the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four to Minnesota in 2010 and Mercyhurst in 2011,” said Jeff Schulman, committee chair and senior associate athletics director at Vermont. “We received several attractive bids, each presenting exciting opportunities in future years for showcasing the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four. We are certain both schools and their respective communities will provide an outstanding experience for both the student-athletes and fans.”
Minnesota will host the 2010 championship, marking the third time Minneapolis will host the event (2001 and 2006). Mercyhurst will host the 2011 championship, which will be the first time the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four takes place in the state of Pennsylvania.
