Gibbs ties single-season triple-double recordTexas-San Antonio senior guard Monica Gibbs tied the NCAA’s single-season record for triple-doubles when she made her third of the 2008-09 season on February 18. Gibbs tallied 19 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Roadrunners to a 72-54 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Earlier this season, Gibbs posted triple-doubles on December 6 against Huston-Tillotson (19 points, 13 assists, 12 rebounds) and again February 11 at Central Arkansas (18 points, 15 assists, 13 rebounds). She holds the record with former Tennessee Tech student-athlete Cheryl Taylor, who accomplished the feat in 1985-86.
The Roadrunners are tied for first place in the Southland conference with Texas-Arlington.
