Georgia’s football facility will be expanded by 53,000 square feet in a $40 million project that will begin this summer.

The Athletic Association Board of Directors approved the expansion of Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall, which will include a new weight room, athletic training facility and a multi-purpose area. New coaches’ offices and meeting rooms are also planned. The project is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete.

The original facility was dedicated in spring 1987 and cost $12 million. It houses locker rooms, sports medicine and equipment rooms as well as a practice field that includes four full-length football fields. The 85,000 square-foot building also includes the main athletics department offices and the Georgia Bulldog Hall of Fame, an interactive tribute to Georgia’s athletics programs.
