Following is a summary of Division I news from the week of August 17-21.

• The Pacific-10 Conference proposed a ban on institutions housing their football teams in hotel rooms the night before home games, one of several financial aid or awards and benefits proposals to be considered in Division I’s 2010 legislative cycle.
• Stanford will host preliminary-round games for the 2010 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. Stanford replaces New Mexico’s The Pit/Bob King Court, which is undergoing renovations.
• Stony Brook will host the 2011 Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship, becoming just the second host from New York since 1982. Syracuse hosted the event in 2003.
