Following is a summary of Division I news for the week of August 10-14.

• Louisiana-Monroe President James Cofer will serve as a member of the Division I Board of Directors. Cofer, who represents the Sun Belt Conference, replaces former Florida Atlantic President Frank Brogan, who accepted a new position as chancellor of the State University System of Florida.
• Men’s swim teams from Evansville, Missouri State and Southern Illinois joined the Mid-American Conference for the 2009-10 season. The schools signed agreements to remain with the conference through at least 2015.
• Princeton and Stony Brook will host the 2010 Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship quarterfinal founds.
• The Division I Softball Committee moved back the outfield fences at the Women’s College World Series beginning in 2010. The fences also will be higher, and a warning track will be implemented.
