Following is a summary of Division I news from the week of August 3-7.

• The Division I Board of Directors referred the Basketball Academic Enhancement Group report into the governance structure. The Board is expected to sponsor proposals from the report in October for the 2009-10 legislative cycle.
• The Administrative Cabinet is developing a tool to assess the success of the reorganized governance structure. NCAA research staff will develop the tool using roster tracking, exit surveys, interviews with leadership and yearly reports from staff.
• IUPUI men’s basketball coach Ron Hunter will take his team to Costa Rica to play games and distribute shoes to people in need. Hunter first called attention to the issue of world poverty by coaching basketball games in his bare feet two seasons ago.
