The following is a summary of Division I news from the week of March 16-20.

•         The NCAA named Auburn the overall winner of the “Pack the House” challenge, an initiative that encourages institutions to target a regular-season game to draw fans.

•         Ohio Valley Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher will become commissioner of the Mid-American Conference on July 1. Current Commissioner Rick Chryst will leave when his contract expires June 30.

•         The Division I Leadership Council will meet March 24 to discuss membership requirements and the Task Force on Commercial Activities report. The discussions will continue from the group’s January meeting.

•         The MAAC and the Summit League both broke attendance records for the 2009 men’s and women’s basketball championships.
