Chattanooga to build golf facilityChattanooga will break ground today for its new Player Development Complex, a golf facility for the university’s men’s and women’s teams and a facility that is open to the community.
The 28-acre complex will be built on the site of an old golf course in Chattanooga. The first phase will be a practice facility dedicated to the school’s golf teams and local youth , including a double-ended driving range, putting and chipping areas. It will be completed this fall.
Subsequent phases include additional putting and chipping greens, hitting bays, practice holes, learning centers, simulators, and locker and meeting rooms for the Chattanooga golf teams. The greens will feature two types of surfaces, and the short-game area will include two practice bunkers.
The land was provided by the City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department, which partnered with the university and with First Tee of Chattanooga, a nonprofit youth golf organization, to complete the project.
