The deadline for institutions and conferences to express their intent to bid on hosting preliminary-round competition in the 2011 Division I Women’s Basketball Championship has been extended to August 14. 

A total of 20 sites will be selected to host first- and second-round and regional competition in 2011.

The deadline was extended after a number of schools expressed interest in the process. Institutions and conferences interested in bidding must submit a Declaration of Intent to Bid form by August 14. The form is not a “commitment” but an “intent” to bid. 

Bid forms were sent previously to institutions and conferences in early July. Complete bid information is due by 5 p.m. Eastern time on September 11.
