Ball State rushers break recordBall State tailbacks MiQuale Lewis and Cory Sykes broke the Football Bowl Subdivision record for yards gained in a game by two teammates during an October 24 contest against Eastern Michigan.
Lewis ran for 301 yards (a school record) and Sykes added 203 yards for a total of 504. The duo beat the previous record held by former Arkansas teammates Darren McFadden and Felix Jones, who combined for 487 yards against South Carolina on October 4, 2007.
Lewis and Sykes make Ball State the first team in all NCAA divisions to produce teammates who rushed for more than 300 and more than 200 yards, respectively. In 2007, Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Jarvis Thrasher (324) and Quincy Daniels (199) came close to reaching the 300/200 mark against Mississippi College.
Lewis’ 301 yards rushing is the best single-game mark in the FBS this year.
