The NCAA is introducing a streamlined process for all championship bids in all divisions beginning with the next bid cycle.

The request for bids, excluding those for the Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, the Division I Baseball Championship and the Division I Football Championship, will begin with general and sport-specific bid requirements becoming available on the NCAA Web site December 15.

Information regarding the new bid process and the available hosting opportunities will be posted on the NCAA Championships Web site at a later date.

The streamlined process is intended to increase awareness of prospective hosts for timely bid submissions, which will give individual sports committees more alternatives to consider before making site recommendations. The new process also helps the Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet and the Division II and III Championships Committees better evaluate bid recommendations in a comprehensive and integrated timeframe. Currently, site recommendations come at those governance bodies a few at a time throughout the year.

All bids for championships sites for 2012-13 that have not been previously awarded are due February 15, 2010. Completed bid proposals for Division I women’s volleyball, wrestling, men’s ice hockey, men’s lacrosse and softball for the 2013 and 2014 championships will also be due on that date.

Each NCAA sport committee will have until June 1, 2010, to submit final recommendations for sites to the Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet and the Division II and III Championships Committees, which will approve sites during meetings in June 2010.
