Bluffton bus crash victim receives diploma
Bluffton University baseball player Tim Berta graduated last weekend - to a standing ovation. The biology major was just four credits shy of getting his degree in 2007 when the Bluffton baseball team's bus plunged over an overpass in Atlanta during the team's trip to Florida, killing five teammates.

Economic downturn keeps baseball out of Fenway
The Atlantic Coast Conference has moved its baseball tournament from Boston's Fenway Park to Greensboro for 2010 because of the economic downturn. Commissioner John Swofford said moving the tournament to NewBridge Bank Park (North Carolina) will keep travel costs down.

Former Davidson student-athlete creates soccer league for homeless
The New York Times recently featured a profile of a unique soccer league for the homeless founded by former Davidson soccer student-athlete, Lawrence Cann. Street Soccer USA began in 2005 as a way to keep residents of a local homeless shelter active and engaged.

Texas makes money on bowl game
According to the Austin-American Statesman, the University of Texas should make about $1.2 million from its Fiesta Bowl date with Ohio State in January.

Munson joins broadcasters Hall of Fame tonight
Larry Munson, the longtime University of Georgia radio voice was inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame during the organization's 50th Annual Awards program earlier this week.
