Guaranteed payday for Arkansas State
Arkansas State will open the 2010 season at Auburn, and the school said it will receive $1 million guarantee for its game, the largest in the school's history.

Woman selected as Mountaineer mascot
For only the second time in West Virginia University's history, a woman will serve as the Mountaineer mascot. Sophomore Rebecca Durst was selected to be the mascot for the 2009-2010 school year. Her first event is the will be the April 18 Gold-Blue spring football game.

The NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Committee announced Sunday the field of 11 teams for the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship. First-round play begins with three games on Wednesday.

Group wants students penalized for unused football tickets
Alabama's student football ticket commission submitted a proposed policy change to the Athletics Ticket Department.  Students who have three unused football tickets in one season would be barred from purchasing postseason tickets, and regular season tickets the following year.
