San Diego State's Strasburg overcomes adversity, shines on the mound
San Diego State junior pitcher Stephen Strasburg was the only current college baseball student-athlete on last year's bronze medal U.S. Olympic baseball team. He's the favorite to be the first selection in this year's Major League Baseball draft.

Duke and Wake Forest both blown out by 27
Last night was a strange night of basketball in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Two of the power programs - Duke and Wake Forest - each suffered 27 point road losses. Fourth-ranked Duke was defeated by 10th-ranked Clemson, 74-47, while seventh-ranked Wake Forest fell to Miami (Florida), 79-52. Which loss was more surprising?

Indiana grabs first Big Ten win
It's no secret that the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team has taken its lumps this season under new coach Tom Crean. Going into last night, the Hoosiers were riding an 11-game losing streak. However, last night was a different story, as Indiana came through with a 68-60 win over Iowa.

Charlotte student-athlete passes away
Charlotte track and field student-athlete Steven Archer died Monday night after suffering from an apparent cardiac arrest while playing a basketball game. The Ashburn, Virginia, native was a sophomore at the school, and competed last weekend in the Penn State National Invitational.

Alabama expands football stadium
Pending board approval, university officials will begin work to expand seating capacity at Bryant-Denny stadium from 92,136 to appoxomately 101,000. The t$80.6 million project is slated for completion before the start of the 2010 football season.

Deaf football recruit accepts scholarship
There was a great story in the Washington Post this morning. Ryan Bonheyo, a high school football player from Maryland, will be playing Division I football at Towson University.
